Fungus

Fungal respiratory infections infect both healthy and immunocompromised individuals. A compromised immune system may result from cancer chemotherapy treatment, post organ transplant and patients or other immunosuppressive therapies, AIDS/HIV infection, etc. Generally, the elderly and the very young are also at risk. JCVI projects focus on elucidating gene pathways, understanding host responses and ultimately developing new anti-fungal treatments.
