CommentThis family is the archaeal-type phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, although not every host species is archaeal. These sequences bear little resemblance to the bacterial/eukaryotic type. The members from Sulfolobus solfataricus and Methanothermobacter thermautotrophicus were verified experimentally, while the activity is known to be present in a number of other archaea.
