Genome Property Definition Page

AccessionGenProp0891
Namecoenzyme M biosynthesis
TypeSYSTEM
DescriptionCoenzyme M (2-mercaptoethanesulfonic acid) acts in methanogenesis in methanogenic archaea. It is also used as a carrier in a bacterium, Xanthobacter autotrophicus Py2, in aerobic propylene metabolism. Pathways differ from Methanococcus jannaschi to Methanosarcina acetivorans, and again to Xanthobacter autotrophicus Py2. This Genome Property represents the parent property.
